VHGY

Pre 1979 code: GJF

Used for transporting wheat.

Affectionately known as "Wheaties", these are one of the more abundant wagons on the Victorian rail network, transporting wheat from rural silos to port for shipping.

Model manufactured by: Aust-N-Rail

In October 2009, Aust-N-Rail released an excellently detailed ready-to-run VHGY in VR, V/Line and Freight Australia liveries, raising the standard once again in the Australian N scale market place. This supersedes the less detailed VHGY kit Aust-N-Rail has had available for many years.

Pictured here are the new VR GJF and V/Line VHGY models, with the older kit versions at the rear in Freight Australia and Pacific National liveries.

The RTR version is available in the following forms:
GJF in VR livery (3 numbers);
VHGY in VR and V/Line Freight liveries (2 numbers each);
VHGF in V/Line Freight (2 numbers), Carlton United Brewery, Australian Barley Board and Freight Australia liveries (2 numbers, one with FA map);
and a plain yellow, unfinished form.

Bills Billboards provides the decals for Freight Australia and Pacific National liveries. If you want to do a livery other than in the new RTR range, your best option is to use the plain yellow form of the new model rather than one of the older, less detailed kits.

These models use Microtrains 1030 bogies with truck-mounted couplers.
