EL57

Something from the modern era, ELs are commonly seen hauling interstate freights on standard guage, though have been known to take a rest lying sideways in the dirt (Benalla, 2006). EL57 was the first to wear silver, blue and yellow livery of CFLCA on 1 September 1999. Most EL's have been named after Australia racehorses (Melboune Cup winners I think). EL57 carries the name of the famous grey - Gunsynd.

There are two EL kits available on the market - one is brass etch you will need to solder (or maybe glue) together, the other is a one piece, plastic moulded body, with a couple of brass detail bits (side mirrors and rear ladder). I chose the plastic body - it comes ready to paint then glue the brass bits on, stick a motor under it and away it goes. If only it was that simple.
