Recent Australian N Scale News
What's News? October 2010
Ready-to-run U Vans have recently been released by Aust-N-Rail. I'll be getting my hands on some soon and will post a picture then.
Upcoming exhibitions
Labour Day weekend, March, 2011 - One of the biggest Victorian exhibitions will be on again at Sandown Racecourse. The Victorian N Scale Collective
will be exhibiting at this show for the first time.
Coming releases
Ready-to-run A, B, S and GM class "bulldog" locomotives
announced some months ago are nearing release. Well, they've been saying that for months now. V/Line B class is likely to be the first available.
These are being marketed through Aust-N-Rail. Check the
Aust-N-Rail website
for updates. Pre-production samples look excellent. The bulldogs have
been prolific in Victorian Railways history since their beginnings in
the 1950s and even today, 50 years on, some are still in action though
some scattered around the country and in quite a range of liveries in
this era of privatisation. My favourites are the B Class locos, seeing
service everywhere in Victoria. You can't have too many of these
classics, certainly my holy grail in Victorian Railways.
Sorry if this sounds like sales talk. I'm not on a commission for any sales, I'm just anxious to get my hands on some of these.
Spirit Design is about to release VPCX three-pot cement wagon kits and has recently announced it will release its excellent range of
passenger cars in Ready-To-Run form.
Recent releases
Station kits - December 2010
Spirit Design has exteneded its range of VR buildings by adding a timber station building kit based on a commonly used 1914 design. Check out the
Spirit Design web site for more details.
Grain Wagons - November 2009
Every Victorian N Scaler needs a grain train and these from Aust-N-Rail are pretty impressive, and a perfect match with the previously released, ready-to-run G class locomotive. Refer to
Aust-N-Rail for more details. They are available at most Australian N Scale Model Railway shops and suppliers.
